I qualified at The Royal London Hospital in 1968, and after a couple of years in oral surgery went into general dental practice, where I established my own dental practice, obtaining the MGDS Diploma in 1985. This was a turning point in my career and, expanding an interest in Endodontics, I completed the Endodontic Masters Programme at The Eastman Dental Institute, London, in 1994.
Completing the Membership in Restorative Dentistry Diploma and admission to the General Dental Council Endodontic Specialist Register encouraged me to limit my practice to endodontic referrals. I have recently been awarded the Fellowship in Dental Surgery by The Faculty of Dental Surgery of The Royal College of Surgeons.
I hold a part time appointment as an Honorary Clinical Teacher in Endodontics at The Eastman Dental Institute in Continuing Professional Development, and lecture both nationally and internationally. I also provide hands-on postgraduate endodontic courses in my own surgery, usually with participants present as observers while I carry out an endodontic treatment procedure which is relayed through the operating microscope video to a monitor.
